MiFID II, the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, entered into force on 3 January 2018. MiFID II is a revision of the MiFID, the EU directive that came into effect in 2007 and the implementation of the MiFIR regulation.

The aim of MiFID II is to make European financial markets more efficient and transparent and to enhance investor protection. MiFID II changes certain regulations for investment firms and trading platforms.
